Despite the defeat, Pickens saw an underclassman step up: freshman Edy Wyngaard had 42 kills, nine digs, and three aces. Those 42 kills set a new season-high mark for Wyngaard. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Derstine, who had six kills and six digs.
