Oakland and Lowell are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Oakers will host the Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Oakland has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight defeats, while Lowell will come in with seven straight victories.
Camas Valley hit Oakland with a five-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Oakers came up short against the Hornets, falling 11-1.
Oakland got a good showing from Jachai Myers, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Myers has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Gabe Williamson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
While Lowell didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Riddle with a sharp 12-1 win on Saturday. Considering the Devils have won six games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Barrett Straight was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Adam Davis was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Lowell's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Oakland, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.
Oakland suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Lowell in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Will the Oakers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
