Baseball Recap: Beatty Wins Going Away Against Mountain View Christian

Beatty came out on top against Mountain View Christian on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive 13-run second inning. The Hornets were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Saints. That looming 17-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Hornets yet this season.

Christian Molina made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just two earned runs but no hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Beatty is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 3-4 otherwise. Molina was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Beatty let Abelino Felix and Anthony Femat run wild. Felix got on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI, while Femat went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. With that strong performance, Felix is now averaging an impressive 1.3 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Aaron Olmedo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Beatty was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Beatty's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Mountain View Christian, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6.
