Martin was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight  defeat. They took  a  62-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mansfield Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the  27-16 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in October of 2017.
 Despite the loss, Martin still got an impressive performance from   Brooks Brigance, who rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also picked up 58 receiving yards.  Khamarian Miller was another key player, rushing for 64 yards and two touchdowns.
 A big part of the  victory came down to the chemistry between  Braxton Van Cleave and his top target  Jacobe Hayes. Van Cleave threw for 227 yards and four touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes while  Hayes picked up 172 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Hayes torched the secondary when he pulled down a catch that went for 75 yards.
 Martin's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Mansfield, the  win was  the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Martin will host Lamar  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for Mansfield, they will welcome Midway  at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Mansfield knows how to get  points on the board -- the  squad has finished with 31 point or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Midway likes a good challenge.
