Monte Vista Christian is 0-7 against Pacific Grove since April of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Mustangs will face off against the Breakers at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Tuesday, Monte Vista Christian needed a bit of extra time to put away Rancho San Juan. They came out on top against the Trailblazers by a score of 10-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
Gianna Johnson spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits.

At the plate, Addie Boles was a standout: she fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and one double while going 5-for-5. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Kayla Fullalove-Silveira was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Monte Vista Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Pacific Grove entered their tilt with North Monterey County on Tuesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Condors 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Breakers, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Pacific Grove got a massive performance out of Emma Von Ruden, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Isis Turner, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Pacific Grove pushed their record up to 14-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Monte Vista Christian, their record is now 11-13.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Monte Vista Christian hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Pacific Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Monte Vista Christian suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Pacific Grove in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
