The St. James Academy Thunder will head out on the road to square off against the Wamego Red Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with St. James Academy sitting on five straight wins and Wamego on eight.
Last Tuesday, St. James Academy didn't have too much trouble with Blue Valley West on the road as they won 45-27.
St. James Academy found their leader in underclassman Elle Robinson, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds. Robinson has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. Reese Messer was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with nine rebounds.
Wamego only won by two when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 35-point they dealt Tonganoxie on Tuesday. Wamego claimed a resounding 58-23 win over Tonganoxie on the road. Wamego has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 33 points or more this season.
St. James Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Wamego, their victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0.
