Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Union City Golden Tornadoes walked away with it. They blew past Westwood, posting a 62-6 victory at home. The result was nothing new for Union City, who have now won seven games by 32 points or more so far this season.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Union City, bringing their record for this year to 8-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Humboldt and 2-9 Halls (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 25% over those games). As for Westwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Union City will challenge Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering is on a four-game streak of home wins, Union City a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. Westwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
