After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Andrean, the Bowman Academy Eagles were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They blew past Lighthouse College Prep Academy 72-49. With Bowman Academy ahead 45-22 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bowman Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lamontae Cross, who dropped a triple-double on 13 points, 11 assists, and 13 steals. Cross is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Nickolas Black, who scored 20 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Lighthouse College Prep Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Derek Scott, Jr, who scored 15 points along with 9 steals and 5 assists. Scott, Jr scored a full 30.6% of Lighthouse College Prep Academy's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. DeQuan Jones was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Lighthouse College Prep Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bowman Academy only racked up 18.
Bowman Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Lighthouse College Prep Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Bowman Academy will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Hammond Morton at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th. Hammond Morton comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Lighthouse College Prep Academy, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Hammond Central at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th.
