The Zionsville Eagles will face off against the Lawrence North Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Zionsville is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Indiana's top teams: Fishers, who was ranked 18th at the time (Zionsville was ranked second). The Eagles blew past the Tigers 17-7 on Friday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.

Leah Helton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over eight innings while giving up six earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-6 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Hadley Bray and Sylvia Mudis did most of the damage at the plate: Bray went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Mudis got on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI Mudis has posted since back in April of 2024. Olivia Kohler was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Zionsville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lawrence North). They put the hurt on North Central with a sharp 15-5 win on Thursday. With that victory, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Like Zionsville, Lawrence North also got a great game from a two-way player: Tessa Kramer. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. Kramer was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ginger Strelow, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Delaney Martin-Thomson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Zionsville's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lawrence North, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-8.
Lawrence North's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Zionsville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Lawrence North, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will Zionsville keep running through batters, or will the Wildcats buck the trend?
Zionsville suffered a grim 20-12 defeat to Lawrence North when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
