Franklin Central is 8-2 against the Raiders since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Franklin Central Purple Devils will look to defend their home court against the Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Franklin Central has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 3.
Franklin Central fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Warriors on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Warriors 57-52.
Despite the loss, Franklin Central saw an underclassman step up: Shannon Kingsbury scored 20 points along with seven steals. Kingsbury is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Lucas Van Dyke was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton had to endure a three-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 41-33 victory over Sharon Springs Central back in January.
Franklin Central dropped their record down to 4-10 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Franklin Central beat the Raiders 47-36 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Will Franklin Central repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
