Las Animas hasn't had much luck against Rye recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Thunderbolts at 3:00 p.m. Las Animas is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Las Animas will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run last Tuesday, then bounced right back against Calhan last Wednesday. The Trojans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 10-0 shutout. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Logan Servaes made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Servaes was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, Las Animas let Jesus Lopez and Nicholas Duran run wild. Lopez scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Duran scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave Duran a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kree Wallace, who went 2-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Las Animas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calhan only posted an OBP of .240.
Meanwhile, Rye was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against Fowler, falling 10-0. That's two games in a row now that the Thunderbolts have lost by exactly ten runs.
Rye's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Las Animas, their record is now 6-1.
Rye's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Las Animas has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .502. It's a different story for Rye, though, as they've only averaged .245.
