Softball Recap: Edon Sets Scoring Season-High Against Holgate

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Edon). They were the clear victors by a 25-4 margin over the Holgate Tigers on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bombers with their most commanding win of the season.

Nevaeh Smith and Alysa Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Nevaeh went 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs, while Alysa went 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave Nevaeh a new career-high. Kyla Rummel was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Edon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .537. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in six consecutive matchups.

Edon pushed their record up to 6-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.7 runs over those games. As for Holgate, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Edon and Holgate could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Bombers (ranked 510th) will meet Fairview (ranked 211th) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Holgate will challenge Edgerton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (663 vs. 87).
