The Patrick County Cougars will face off against the Glenvar Highlanders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Patrick County's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Glenvar has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.
On Tuesday, Patrick County got the win against Chatham by a conclusive 12-4. Considering the Cougars have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Jenna Woods made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Woods was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Journey Moore was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Lacey Sutphin, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Patrick County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Glenvar fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Patrick Henry on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 8-7.
Glenvar's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Patrick County, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
Patrick County was able to grind out a solid victory over Glenvar in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, winning 5-1. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Highlanders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
