It was a good run, but the Hialeah Gardens Gladiators unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Columbus on the road and fell 101-47. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hialeah Gardens has scored all season.
Hialeah Gardens' loss came despite strong showings from Sebastian Pupo and Khalil Volel. Pupo scored 20 points along with six assists, while Volel scored 12 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Johnson, who scored two points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Cameron Boozer was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks for Columbus. Boozer is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last eight games he's played. Michael Feenane was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Hialeah Gardens' loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5. As for Columbus, they pushed their record up to 17-4 with that win, which was their 14th straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hialeah Gardens will take on Goleman at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Columbus, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Southridge at 6:30 p.m. Southridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while Columbus is ranked second).
