The Satellite Scorpions waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with five straight wins but they left with six. They came out on top against Bayside by a score of 57-45. Given Satellite's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Bears are ranked 539th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Satellite got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zander Tantius out in front who scored 19 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tantius has scored all season. Michael Otero was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with two steals.
Satellite's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Bayside, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-15.
Satellite will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Merritt Island's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games. As for Bayside, they will face off against the Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
