The Inderkum Tigers will face off against the Rocklin Thunder at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Inderkum is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Laguna Creek 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since April 10th.
Anyssa Luttig was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Brielle Collins was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Inderkum lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rocklin). They never let Golden Valley get on the board and left with a 22-0 win on Wednesday. The Thunder might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.
Payton Prior and Cat Alston made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Prior pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Alston tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. At bat, Prior went 2-for-3 with six RBI, three runs, and two doubles, while Alston got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four runs gave Alston a new career-high.
In other batting news, Rocklin got a massive performance out of Brooke Lomelli, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave Lomelli a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Marley Hogue, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
The victory was the fifth in a row for Rocklin, bringing their record up to 20-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Inderkum, their victory bumped their record up to 15-13-1.
Inderkum couldn't quite finish off Rocklin in their previous matchup back in April of 2016 and fell 8-6. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
