Stockbridge has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Mt. Zion Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stockbridge knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Mt. Zion likes a good challenge.
Stockbridge has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 22 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Burke County 76-31 at home.
Stockbridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayla Fulks led the charge by going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 2 assists. Fulks continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carrington Wilson, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Mt. Zion, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 46-32 loss to Morrow on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Mt. Zion can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while Morrow is ranked 36th).
Stockbridge has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 4-2 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for Mt. Zion, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Stockbridge against Mt. Zion in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 67-6 win. Does Stockbridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mt. Zion turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
