After a string of three wins, The Virginia High Bearcats''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Marion by a score of 22-20. Virginia High was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Marion apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Ethan Campbell was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown. Campbell really tore up the turf during one magnificent 93-yard run.
Virginia High's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 4-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.4 points per game. As for Marion, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Virginia High will square off against Union at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Union has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 125 points over their last three matches. As for Marion, they will head out on the road to face off against Gate City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gate City is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
