After three games on the road, Decatur is heading back home. They will take on the Kentridge Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Washington (Decatur is ranked 96th, while Kentridge is ranked 90th).
Decatur suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Kennedy Catholic by a score of 49-46.
In what's become a running theme this season, Kentridge gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They blew past Federal Way 66-23 on the road. With Kentridge ahead 32-11 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Sydney Esperanza was her usual excellent self, scoring ten points along with nine steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jaya Brown, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Decatur's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Kentridge, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-7.
Things could have been worse for Decatur, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-47 loss to Kentridge in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Kentridge's Jayla Keowla, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
