The Wellington Crusaders's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 67-60 victory over El Dorado. Given Wellington's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while El Dorado is ranked 268th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Loss or not, El Dorado got some senior leadership from Logan Garner and Chase Lesh. Garner scored 26 points along with five assists and five rebounds, while Lesh. scored 18 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 43.3% of El Dorado's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zac Jacobs, who scored three points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Wellington pushed their record up to 10-4-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for El Dorado, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.
Wellington will head out on the road to challenge Rose Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for El Dorado, they will be playing at home against Clearwater at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. El Dorado knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Clearwater likes a good challenge.
