The Man Hillbillies are taking a road trip to square off against the Gilmer County Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Man sitting on three straight wins and Gilmer County on 27.
Man barely beat Tolsia the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hillbillies never let the Rebels get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Tuesday. The Hillbillies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Mia Johnson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Man got a big performance out of Kylie Blevins, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs Blevins has posted since back in April. Erika Mullins was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Man kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Gilmer County made easy work of Calhoun on Wednesday and carried off a 21-7 win. Considering the Titans have won 23 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Man, Gilmer County also got a great game from a two-way player: Kenley Hartshorn. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hartshorn was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Alexis Stoddard was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kaelyn Mullins, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Man's record now sits at 10-7. As for Gilmer County, their record is now 27-0.
