Troy took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Kendrick, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Trojans narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Tigers 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted since April 23, 2024.
Dominic Holden spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 15 Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Makhi Durrett, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Payton Christensen, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Potlatch got the win against Genesee on Saturday by a conclusive 16-5. The Loggers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.
Logan Carpenter made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5.
In other batting news, Jay Marshall was excellent, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Waylan Marshall was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Troy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .497. However, it's not like Potlatch struggles in that department as they've averaged .457. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Troy couldn't quite finish off Potlatch in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 4-2. Will the Trojans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
