Kokomo hasn't had much luck against McCutcheon recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wildkats will welcome the Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. Kokomo is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
Kokomo's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They came out on top against Richmond by a score of 3-0.
Not much got past Isaac Flamino, who gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks to keep Richmond off the board. Flamino has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kokomo saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Dockemeyer, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, McCutcheon's hitters rose to the challenge against a Hornets pitching crew that boasted an average of only 3.33 runs allowed on Saturday. The Mavericks blew past Rossville 12-1. The result was nothing new for the Mavericks, who have now won three games by six runs or more so far this season.
Jake Winger was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. He is becoming a predictor of McCutcheon's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Mekyel Almond, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
McCutcheon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Kokomo's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for McCutcheon, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
Kokomo might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from McCutcheon when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Wildkats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
