Volleyball Recap: Raya Thompson and Aubrey Blake Secure Win for Cherry Creek

Cherry Creek won the last time they faced Mullen and Riley Harfman did her part to make sure it happened again. The Bruins walked away with a 3-1 win over the Mustangs on Tuesday thanks in part to Harfman, who had four digs and two aces. She has been hot recently, having also posted 16 or more assists the last four times she's played.

While Cherry Creek might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Mullen scored at least 21 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 20-25, 25-23, 25-23.

Leading Cherry Creek to victory were Aubrey Blake and Raya Thompson. Blake had 13 digs and six assists, while Thompson had 15 kills and 11 digs. That's the most assists Blake has posted since back in November of 2024. Kambria Landen also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Cherry Creek's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-5. As for Mullen, their defeat ended a four-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cherry Creek will challenge Chaparral at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Mullen, after both having extra time off, they and Eaglecrest will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
