A well-balanced attack led the Marion Swamp Foxes over the Andrews Yellowjackets in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Marion blew the Yellowjackets out of the water with a 63-36 final score. Given Marion's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 167th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jamarius Williams was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Jameir Legette, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Andrews' loss came despite strong showings from Vincent Rhue and Lavon White. Rhue scored 12 points along with three steals, while White scored 13 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points White has scored all season.
Marion is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 14-8 record this season. As for Andrews, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marion will take on the Stallions at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Andrews, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Blazers at 8:00 p.m. on February 2nd.
