The Sanger Indians will square off against the Ferris Yellowjackets on Friday. Sanger will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Sanger is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Panther Creek 4-3.
Leala Kloewer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Dalilah Millan was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Lily Wilson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Ferris never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on North Dallas with a sharp 15-0 victory. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.
Landri Davis made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Ferris got a massive performance out of Tori Cook, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those three hits gave Cook a new career-high. Aubrie Henson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Ferris kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
The win made it two in a row for Ferris and bumps their season record up to 14-12-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Sanger, their record is now 17-7-3.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Sanger hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Ferris struggles in that department as they've averaged .330. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
