The Crawford County Eagles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Furlow Charter School 86-30 at home. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Crawford County as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Mareo Slaton was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chadrick Price, who scored 16 points.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Enrique Retana, who scored eight points. Another player making a difference was Braylon Smothers, who scored seven points.
Crawford County's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Furlow Charter School, they bumped their record down to 0-9 with that defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Crawford County will be home for the holidays to greet Stratford Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Stratford Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Crawford County in Georgia (Stratford Academy is ranked 198th, while Crawford County is ranked 493rd). As for Furlow Charter School, they will head out on the road to face off against CHESS Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
