Basketball Recap: Cozad Sets Scoring Season-High Against Ainsworth

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cozad). They walked away with a 45-36 win over the Ainsworth Bulldogs on Saturday. This was payback for the Haymakers, who suffered a 56-43 loss the last time these two teams met.

Ainsworth's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaylee Good, who posted five points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Good a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Preselyn Goochey, who had ten points and three steals.

The victory made it two in a row for Cozad and bumps their season record up to 2-5. As for Ainsworth, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Cozad will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Ord at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Ainsworth, they will be taking part in a tournament against Wakefield at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Ainsworth is facing Wakefield at the right time seeing as Wakefield is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
