Sandpoint is 7-1 against Kellogg since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Sandpoint Bulldogs will be home for the holidays to greet the Kellogg Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Sandpoint will be looking to keep their 15-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Saturday, Sandpoint strolled past Lewiston with points to spare, taking the game 58-42. 58 seems to be a good number for Sandpoint as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Sandpoint's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordyn Tomco, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her. Aliya Strock was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Meanwhile, Kellogg suffered a rough 55-32 defeat at the hands of Moscow on Saturday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Kellogg in their matchups with Moscow: they've now lost six in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Emily Coe, who scored 11 points. The contest was her third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Macy Jerome, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Sandpoint's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Kellogg, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Sandpoint hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 59.5 points per game. However, it's not like Kellogg struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 50.8 points per game. The only thing between Sandpoint and another offensive beatdown is Kellogg. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Everything came up roses for Sandpoint against Kellogg when the teams last played back in February as the squad secured a 64-30 win. With Sandpoint ahead 36-13 at the half, the match was all but over already.
