It's playoff time, and University had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over the USC-MAE Trojans on Wednesday. Considering the Wildcats have won six games by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kayla Anzora was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Anzora was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Ditagi Smith was incredible, going 1-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Sharlyn Mendoza also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
The victory got University back to even at 8-8. As for USC-MAE, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.
Looking ahead, University will square off against Lincoln at 2:15 p.m. on Friday. USC-MAE does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
