Softball Recap: Lawndale Wins Going Away Against Beverly Hills

Lawndale won the last time they faced Beverly Hills and things went their way on Thursday too. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Normans with a sharp 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Kelly Bailey looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aaliyah Torres, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Darryn Dean was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Lawndale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Lawndale pushed their record up to 6-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for Beverly Hills, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.
