Paityn Snow made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with four runs, five RBI, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Liberty Ranch got a massive performance out of Mariella Granata, who scored six runs and stole two bases while going 5-for-5. The dominant performance also gave Granata a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Khali Barrantes, who scored six runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.
Liberty Ranch always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .673. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Galt only posted an OBP of .211.
Meanwhile, Union Mine sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over El Dorado on Tuesday.
Madison Matlack spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.
On the hitting side, Jillian Niles and Ruby Luce did most of the damage at the plate: Niles went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Luce scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Sebastian, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Liberty Ranch pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Union Mine, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6.
Liberty Ranch took their win against Union Mine in their previous meeting on Monday by a conclusive 11-2 score. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Diamondbacks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
