Basketball Recap: Sand Creek Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

Sand Creek had won six straight games and Elijah Brotherns did his part to make it seven on Friday. The Sand Creek Scorpions really took it to the Battle Mountain Huskies for the full four quarters, racking up an 87-45 victory thanks in part to Brotherns, who went 12 of 13 on his way to 29 points along with six rebounds and six steals. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game.

The team also got some help courtesy of Mathew Starks, who went 7 for 11 en route to 17 points and four steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played.

Battle Mountain's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Wansley, who posted 20 points. Another player making a difference was Beau Suman, who earned 13 points.

Sand Creek pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.8 points. As for Battle Mountain, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Sand Creek didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-53 loss against Discovery Canyon on the 27th. Battle Mountain has also already played their next contest, a 64-25 defeat against Skyline on the 25th.
