It was a good run, but the Willow Spring Storm unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 71-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cleveland. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (59), Willow Spring still had to take the loss.
Willow Spring's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grant Overman, who scored nine points along with 14 rebounds and five blocks. Overman hasn't dropped below two blocks for 15 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Solomon, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
It was another big night for James Harris, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds for Cleveland. That's the first time this season that Harris scored 15 or more points. Rodney Poston was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Willow Spring's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Cleveland, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-9.
Willow Spring will look to defend their home court on Friday against Clayton at 7:00 p.m. Clayton has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 626 points over their last nine games. As for Cleveland, they will head out on the road to face off against Southeast Raleigh at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Southeast Raleigh presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cleveland in North Carolina (Southeast Raleigh is ranked 142nd, while Cleveland is ranked 306th).
