Having just played yesterday, the Wesley Chapel Wildcats will get right back to it and host the East Lake Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Wesley Chapel has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,367 points over their last 18 matches.
Wesley Chapel fought the good fight in their overtime game against Berkeley Prep on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Buccaneers by a score of 65-62. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Wesley Chapel's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ethan Hicks, who scored 22 points along with three steals, and Sian Morris who scored 20 points along with seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hicks has scored all season. Javin Harrison was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, East Lake came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 68-62 victory over Seminole. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead East Lake to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jeremiah Cooper, who scored 18 points along with five assists and four steals. Cooper continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Brown, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
Wesley Chapel's loss ended a 13-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-4. As for East Lake, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
Wesley Chapel was taken down by East Lake 73-41 in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Wesley Chapel, Henry Hurst Jr. (who scored 24 points along with two steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
