Falls Lake has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Franklin Academy Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Falls Lake didn't have too much trouble with NCSSM: Durham on the road as they won 55-37. Given Falls Lake's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while NCSSM: Durham is ranked 297th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Emerson Thompson, who dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 14 assists. Thompson is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. Madisyn Shedd was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the match if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Franklin Academy's strategy against River Mill on Wednesday. Franklin Academy blew past River Mill 47-27. That's two games straight that Franklin Academy has won by exactly 20 points.
Falls Lake's win was their 24th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Franklin Academy, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
Everything went Falls Lake's way against Franklin Academy in their previous matchup back in January as Falls Lake made off with a 51-30 win. Will Falls Lake repeat their success, or does Franklin Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
