Thomas has been consistent recently: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. Thomas was also big at the plate,  scoring three  runs while going 3-for-4.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Devin Odoms, who  went 2-for-3 with a  home run and three  RBI.  Kolby Sirmon was another key contributor,  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances with a  stolen base and  an  RBI.
 Excel has  been performing  well recently as they've  won six of their last eight games,  which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record  this season. As for Straughn, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.
