South Effingham has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Grovetown Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
Last Saturday, South Effingham came up short against Lakeside and fell 55-44. While losing is never fun, South Effingham can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while Lakeside is ranked 95th).
The losing side was boosted by Elena Hairston, who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Another player making a difference was Hayden Johanson, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Grovetown beat Glynn Academy 49-44 on Saturday.
South Effingham has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season. As for Grovetown, their victory bumped their record up to 9-14.
South Effingham took their victory against Grovetown in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 53-30. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Effingham since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
