The biggest upset of the week belonged to New Hope, who took down 81st ranked Lewisburg, 21-20.
Adding to the longest winning streak in 5A Region 1 this week, Oxford beat Clarksdale 47-12. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Chargers.
Lake Cormorant's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Bailey Walker threw for 332 and 3 touchdowns and Ladarius Rodgers had 142 yards receiving. On the ground Austion Byrd chipped in 100 yards. Ryan Golden helped Lake Cormorant's passing attack out by catching 10 balls for 128 yards.
Devonta Street made the biggest impact on defense this week as Center Hill fell to Lake Cormorant. He recorded 1 fumble and grabbed 1 sack.
Rodgers was the best wideout in the league this week as Nick Nester's team defeated the Mustangs. Rodgers tallied 6 receptions for 142 yards. Golden helped Lake Cormorant's passing attack out by catching 10 balls for 128 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Lake Cormorant's Walker and Golden have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-3 quarterback Walker has thrown for 2,490 yards this season, while Golden has 54 catches for 894 yards. Diamante Pounds from Saltillo leads the league in rushing with 1,526 yards.
Going into this week's game against Center Hill, Oxford's Jack Abraham needs 199 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season. So far this year, Abraham has thrown for 1,801 yards with 21 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.
The Wildcats are currently in fifth, while Lake Cormorant is in second.
West Point was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting the Tigers. The Green Wave came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 35 last week.
