After a string of six wins, the Bluff City Gray Wolves's good fortune finally ran out  on Thursday. They fell just short of Crooked Oak by a score of  44-42. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest  points Bluff City has scored all season.
 When it comes to explaining why Bluff City lost, one person who can't be blamed is  Asya Wood. Despite the final result, she  almost  dropped  a triple-double on 19 points, 15  rebounds, and nine  steals. Those nine  steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of  London Carson, who  scored nine points along with 12  rebounds and five  steals.
 Even though they lost, Bluff City  were smashing the offensive glass and  finished the game with 36  offensive rebounds. That's the most  offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
 Bluff City's loss  ended a four-game streak of away wins  and  brought them to 6-2. As for Crooked Oak, their win  ended a five-game drought at home  dating back to last season and  bumped them up to 2-7.
 Bluff City will be staying on the road  on Friday to face off against Lafayette at 3:30  p.m.  on December 29th. Lafayette presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Bluff City in their respective states (Lafayette is ranked 49th in Missouri, while Bluff City is ranked 142nd in Tennessee). Crooked Oak won't have much time to rest: their next  contest is against Whitehaven at 3:30  p.m.  on December 29th. Whitehaven has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
