Owen Valley and Edgewood are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Owen Valley Patriots will venture away from home to challenge the Edgewood Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Edgewood took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Owen Valley, who comes in off a win.
Last Wednesday, everything went Owen Valley's way against Clay City as Owen Valley made off with a 51-26 win. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 25 points or more this season.

Owen Valley found their leader in freshman Aubrey Sparks, who went 13 for 20 en route to 30 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Sparks has posted since back in November of 2024. Kalyn Greene was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to five assists and four steals.
Owen Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Edgewood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 57-45 to Monrovia.
Owen Valley will need focus on slowing down Allison Bland, one of several Edgewood players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 13 points along with seven boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Macey Crider, who went 6 of 15 on her way to 13 points and eight rebounds.
Owen Valley's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Edgewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Owen Valley has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.6 boards per game. However, it's not like Edgewood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Owen Valley came up short against Edgewood in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 50-42. Can Owen Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
