Marshall is 0-10 against Brandeis since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Marshall Rams will head out on the road to challenge the Brandeis Broncos at 6:00 p.m. Marshall is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
On Saturday, Marshall was able to grind out a solid victory over SA Roosevelt, taking the game 48-40. Given Marshall's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 353rd, while SA Roosevelt is ranked 960th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Brandeis entered their tilt with Reagan with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Brandeis walked away with a 50-40 victory over Reagan on Saturday.
Rian Forestier continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with eight rebounds and six blocks. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Brandeis' points. Another player making a difference was Abigail Burdette, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Marshall's win bumped their record up to 17-13. As for Brandeis, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season.
Marshall came up short against Brandeis when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 47-34. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Forestier, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 21 rebounds. Now that Marshall knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
