Basketball Recap: Bishop Moore Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Brandon Rivera and Mark Dadlani

Bishop Moore was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 58-52 heartbreaker at the hands of the Foundation Academy Lions . While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 426th, while the Lions are ranked 177th).

Bishop Moore's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mark Dadlani, who posted 14 points, and Brandon Rivera, who earned 14 points. The dominant performance gave Rivera a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Juelz Nu?ez, who had seven points.

Foundation Academy was led to victory by Riley Michels and Alex Nichols. Michels went 8 for 18 en route to 21 points along with eight boards and three blocks, while Nichols went 6 of 12 on his way to 18 points in addition to five assists and three steals. The game was Nichols' eighth in a row with at least ten points. Nate Waldon was another key player, putting up seven points and ten rebounds.

Bishop Moore's defeat dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Foundation Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-6.

Bishop Moore has already played their next matchup, a 70-53 win against Trinity Prep on the 21st. As for Foundation Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-51 victory against Geneva on the 21st.
