Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Wilcox

Wilcox won the last time they faced American and things went their way on Friday too. The Wilcox Chargers came out on top against the American Eagles by a score of 61-53. While the Chargers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Despite the loss, American still got an impressive performance from Arman Mahavni, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 boards. Mahavni is becoming a predictor of American's success: when he posts at least eight rebounds the team is 4-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan JaWei Lee, who posted 13 points and six rebounds.

The win (which was Wilcox's fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. As for American, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.

Wilcox didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-55 victory against Mission San Jose on the 28th. As for American, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 64-45 defeat against Washington on the 28th.
