After a string of three wins, Avon Lake's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of North Ridgeville by a score of 52-49. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Avon Lake in their matchups with North Ridgeville: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Avon beat Steele 51-47 on Wednesday.
It was another big night for Molly Drenik, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 17 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Owens, who scored nine points.
Avon Lake's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-3. As for Avon, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
Avon Lake strolled past Avon in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 51-37. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Drenik, who scored 16 points.
