Having just played yesterday, the Blue Ridge Barons will jump right back in to play the Oak Hill Academy - Red Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
In what's become a running theme this season, Blue Ridge gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 83-54 victory over Virginia Episcopal School on the road. Given Blue Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Virginia Episcopal School is ranked 115th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Blue Ridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shanon Simango, who scored 19 points along with two blocks. Another player making a difference was Kamren Martin, who scored 13 points along with five assists.
Meanwhile, even though Hargrave Military Academy scored an imposing 69 points on Saturday, Oak Hill Academy - Red still came out on top. Oak Hill Academy - Red managed a 73-69 victory over Hargrave Military Academy.
Blue Ridge pushed their record up to 12-4 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.3 points per game. As for Oak Hill Academy - Red, their victory bumped their record up to 13-3.
Everything came up roses for Blue Ridge against Oak Hill Academy - Red when the teams last played back in January of 2020 as the squad secured a 75-40 victory. With Blue Ridge ahead 45-18 at the half, the game was all but over already.
