The Latta Vikings will be playing at home against the East Clarendon Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Latta beat Cheraw 35-31.
Latta relied on the efforts of Layla Hyatt, who scored 12 points, and Azarriona Mcrae, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, East Clarendon put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Manning on the road to the tune of 48-16. The result was nothing new for East Clarendon, who have now won three matches by 28 points or more so far this season.
East Clarendon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hayden White led the charge by scoring 17 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which White has scored at least 25% of East Clarendon's points. Another player making a difference was Jasmyne Lloyd, who scored 10 points.
The victory got Latta back to even at 1-1. As for East Clarendon, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-0.
Latta came up short against East Clarendon in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, falling 57-49. Thankfully for Latta, Talaysia Cooper (who dropped a triple-double on 29 points, 17 rebounds, and 10 assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
