There's no place like home for Plattsmouth, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past the Mount Michael Benedictine Knights 8-7. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Derek Nanke tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk).

At the plate, Plattsmouth's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Eli Winters, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another was Henry Loontjer, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Plattsmouth's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Mount Michael Benedictine, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Plattsmouth will face off against rival Auburn at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Mount Michael Benedictine is set to take on their familiar foe South Sioux City at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
