The Spearfish Spartans's found some homefield redemption this week after a tough overtime loss to the More Cavaliers on Thursday. Spearfish had just enough and edged Rapid City Central out 47-44. For Spearfish, this counts as revenge for the 59-54 defeat Rapid City Central walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Dylon Doren was his usual excellent self, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Seth Hamilton, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
The victory got Spearfish back to even at 5-5. As for Rapid City Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-9.
Spearfish will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Lead-Deadwood at 7:30 p.m. Lead-Deadwood has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15. As for Rapid City Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Stevens at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Stevens presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Rapid City Central in South Dakota (Stevens is ranked 25th, while Rapid City Central is ranked 106th).
