Clymer Central/Sherman/Panama extended their winning streak to three on Monday, bumping their season record up to 3-2 in the process. They put the hurt on the Westfield Wolverines with a sharp 12-4 win. With that victory, the Wolfpack brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Tate Catanese made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Catanese was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Catanese is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, Bryce Hinsdale was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Spiesman, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
As for Westfield, they now have a losing record of 1-2. They have struggled against Clymer Central/Sherman/Panama recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.
Like Clymer Central/Sherman/Panama, Westfield also got a great game from a two-way player: Tristan Phillips. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Phillips was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Phillips wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Joel Stein, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Logan Baum was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
